Trans Nzoia records first Covid-19 case as 52 test positive

The Health Cabinet Secretary, Hon Mutahi Kagwe has today announced the country has recorded 52 new positive cases from a total of 2,567 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the country’s tally to 1,161 total confirmed infections.
He reported that from today’s cases, 48 are Kenyans, 2 Ugandans and 2 Somali Nationals with 37 of them being male and 15 female.
From today’s cases, Nairobi has 23 cases, Mombasa 7, Busia 7, Kwale 5, Kajiado 4, Nakuru 2 and Kiambu, Taita Taveta, Kilifi and Trans Nzoia each recording 1 case. Trans Nzoia becomes the latest county to report a case. The number of counties affected now stand at 27.
Nairobi’s cases are distributed in Kibra with 8, Langata 3, Kamukunji 2, Dagoretti North 2, Embakasi East 2 and Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kasarani, Starehe and Roysambu each recording 1 case. The remaining case was picked up in one of the mandatory quarantine centres.
In Mombasa, Jomvu has 4 cases, Mvita 2 and Nyali 1. In Busia, Teso South 4, Teso North 2 and Matayos 1. All of Kwale’s cases came from Msambweni.
The cases in Kajiado are located in Kajiado Central with 2, Kajiado West 1 and Loitoktok 1. In Nakuru, the cases are from Naivasha and Rongai respectively with Kiambu’s cases in Kiambu Town, Kilifi in Rabai and Trans Nzoia in Trans Nzoia East.
The CS also announced that 5 more people have been discharged after recovering from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 380.
Fatalities still remain at 50.
