Recoveries up to 31,648 while 437 test positive

The Ministry of Health has today announced that 437 people have tested positive from a sample of 4,311 tested in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative number of recorded cases in the country to 43,580. From today’s cases, 430 are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners with the gender distribution being 253 for males and 184 for females. The age distribution is between 4 month old infant for the youngest and 95 years old for the oldest.
The country distribution of the new cases is; Nairobi 136, Nakuru 66, Kilifi 29, Kisumu 26, Uasin Gishu 21, Kericho 21, Embu 17, Busia 16, Kajiado 15, Migori 14, Machakos 14, Kiambu 9, Meru 9, Nandi 8, Bomet 6, Nyeri 5, Laikipia 5, Mombasa 5, Nyamira 3, Nyandarua 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 2, Turkana 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Wajir 2, Muranga 1 and Siaya 1.
In Nairobi, 40 are from Kibra, Dagoretti North 9, Lang’ata 9, Embakasi East 8, Kasarani 8, 6 each from Embakasi Central, Kamukunji, Makadara, Roysambu and Starehe, 5 each from Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Ruaraka and Westlands, 4 from Embakasi North and 3 from Mathare. In Nakuru, 57 are from Nakuru West, 5 from Naivasha, 2 from nakuru East and 1 each from Njoro and Rongai. In Kilifi, 25 are from Magarini, 3 from Kilifi North and 1 from Malindi.
In Kisumu, 23 are from Kisumu Central and 2 from Kisumu East. In Uasin Gishu, 11 are from Ainabkoi and 10 from Turbo while in Kericho 12 are from Belgut, 6 from Ainamoi and 1 each from Bureti and Kipkelion East. The cases in Embu are from Manyatta while in Busia, 11 are from Matayos and 5 from Teso North. In Kajiado, 9 are from Kajiado North, 5 are from Kajiado Central and 1 from Kajiado East. In Migori, 11 are from Rongo, 2 from Kuria West and 1 from Awendo.
In Machakos, 9 are Machakos Town, 4 from Athi River and 1 from Matungulu.In Kiambu, 3 are from Thika, 2from Ruiru and 1 each from Kabete, Kiambaa, Kiambu Town and Lari. The cases in Meru are from Imenti North with 7 and Imenti Central with 2. In Nandi, 4 are from Nandi Hills, 3 from Emgwen and 1 from Mosop while in Bomet, Bomet Central and Sotik have 3 cases each.
Nyeri’s cases are from Tetu with 3 and 1 each from Kieni East and Nyeri Central while the cases in Laikipia are from Laikipia West with 4 and 1 from Laikipia East. All cases in Mombasa are from Jomvu while all cases in Nyamira are from Nyamira Town. The case in Nyandarua are from Ol Kalou while the cases in Elgeyo Marakwet are all from Keiyo North. The cases in Turkana are from Turkana Central and Turkana West while the cases in Tharaka Nithi are all from Chuka. Wajir’s cases are all from Wajir East, Muranga’s case from Kigumo and Siaya’s case from Alego Usonga.
A further 140 people have recovered within the same time period with 72 being from home-based care while 68 from various hospitals. This now takes the number of recoveries up to 31,648. 8 people succumbed to the disease within the same time period taking fatalities to 813.
