One person in critical care unit as 14 test positive

The Health CS, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe today announced 14 more people have tested positive in the last 24 hours bringing the number of infections in the country to 172. The 14 emanated from a total of 696 samples tested.

Fourteen of the cases are Kenyans and 2 being foreign nationals with 4 of the cases ahving a hjistory of travel to Tanzania, South Africa, UAE and USA. The ministry’s surveillance teams picked up 10 of the cases while while 4 are from the quarantine facilities. In terms of gender, 8 of the cases are males while 6 are females with the age range being between 5 to 56 years.

The cases are distributed in Nairobi with 7, Mombasa 2, Machakos 1, Kisii 1, Kiambu 1 and Mandera 2. The cases in Mandera have a recent travel to Mombasa.

The Health CS also announced 3 more people have been discharged from hospital bringing the number of discharges to 7.

The Acting Director General of Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth disclosed that 1  person who tested positive is in critical care unit while the rest were exhibiting mild symptoms.
