Number of recoveries on the rise

The Ministry of Health has today announced that 63 people have been discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours raising the number to 706. The Health Cabinet Secretary, Hon Mutahi Kagwe gave tribute to the health workers for their devotion to duty for this achievement.

Within the same period, 126 people tested positive for the virus from a total of 3,632 samples tested bringing the cumulative number of positive infections in the country to 2,600. The age distribution of the cases is 1 year for the youngest and 76 years for the oldest with 28 being females and 98 males.

The positive cases are spread in Mombasa with 56, Busia 54, Nairobi 8, Migori and Machakos, Kisumu, Nakuru, Kajiado and Uasin Gishu each recording 1 case. In Mombasa, 18 cases are from Mvita, Nyali 15, Kisauni 7, Jomvu 7, Likoni 6 and Changamwe 3.  In Nairobi, 3 are from Kibra while Mathare, Makadara, Roysambu, Lang’ata and Kasarani each having 1 case. 46 of the cases in Busia are from Malaba Point of Entry, 7 from Budia Point of Entry and 1 from Alupe quarantine.

In Migori, 2 cases are from Kuria West while 1 is from Kuria East. In Machakos the case is from Athi River while inKisumu the case is from Kisumu Central. Nakuru’s case is from Naivasha, Uasin Gishu’s case is a truck driver from Turbo while the case in Kajiado is from Loitoktok.

The CS also reported that 4 more people have lost their lives within the same period bringing number of deaths to 83.
