Nairobi leads with 28 confirmed cases as 7 more test positive for corona virus

The Health Cabinet Secretary (CS), Hon. Mutahi Kagwe today announced confirmation of 7 people who tested positive for the Corona virus disease in the last 24 hours from a total of 81 samples tested in various laboratories. This now brings the number of confirmed cases in the country to 38.
Out of the 7, 4 are Kenyans, 2 Congolese and one Chinese National. 3 are female and 4 male. From the confirmed cases, 4 had a history of travel from countries with active transmission, 1 had travelled to Mombasa while 2 did not have a history of travel. To date 833 samples have been tested for the Corona virus disease.
He also announced that all 7 cases are from Nairobi bringing the total cases within the county to 28. It is followed by Kilifi with 6, Mombasa with 2 and 2 each in kajiado and Kwale.
The total number of close contacts are being monitoring stands at 1141. Out of this number, 163 have been discharged after completing the mandatory 14 day follow up period . 3 individuals admitted at Mbagathi Hospital are awaiting test results.
