Ministry confirms 685 new cases with 17 deaths recorded

The ministry has today announced that 685 more people have tested positive for Corona Virus from a sample of 4,433 tested in the past 24 hours. This now brings to 50,877 the number of confirmed infections in the country. From the cases, 659 are Kenyans and 26 foreigners with 449 of today’s cases being males and 236 females. The youngest of the cases is 2 years and oldest being 81.

The counties affected are ; Mombasa 203, Nairobi 202, Busia 95, Nakuru 18, Kiambu 18, Bungoma 18, Kilifi 17, Kisumu 17, Embu 17, Kajiado 15, Kakamega 14, Kwale 8, Machakos 6, Kirinyaga 5, 4 each from Kericho, Murang’a, Taita Taveta, Turkana, Nyandarua and Tana River, Homabay 3, Isiolo 2, Kisii 2 and Garissa 1.

In Mombasa, 97 are from Mvita, 35 from Nyali, 23 from Jomvu, 20 from Kisauni, 17 from Likoni and 11 from Changamwe. In Nairobi, 29 are from Westlands, 24 from Lang’ata, 22 from Embakasi Central, 18 from Embakasi East, 17 from Kamukunji, 15 from Dagoretti South, 14 from Kibra, 12 from Dagoretti North, 11 from Ruaraka, 11 from Mathare, 9 from Embakasi West, 8 from Embakasi North, 5 from Starehe, 3 each from Kasarani and Roysambu and 1 each from Embakasi South and Makadara. In Busia, 17 are from Kandunyi and 1 from Webuye with the cases in Kilifi recorded in Kilifi North with 9, 3 each from Kaloleni and Rabai and 2 from Kilifi South. In Kisumu, Muhoroni and Kisumu Central have 8 cases each and 1 case in Kisumu East while in Embu, 13 are from Manyatta and 4 from Runyenjes. In Kajiado, 9 are from Kajiado East and 6 from Kajiado Central.

In Kakamega, 6 are from Lurambi, 5 from Mumias East and 1 each from Butere, Matungu and Mumias West. In Kwale, all cases are from Msambweni while the cases in Machakos are from Athi River. In Kirinyaga, 3 are from Kirinyaga Central and 1 each from Kirinyaga East and Kirinyaga North. The cases in Kericho are from Ainamoi. The cases in Murang’a are from Gatanga and 3 from Mathioya while the cases in Taita Taveta are from Mwatate and Taveta with 2 cases each. The cases in Turkana are from Turkana West while the cases in Nyandarua are from Ol Kalou. Tana River’s cases are from Bura with 3 and 1 from Garsen. All Homabay’s cases are from Homabay Town while the cases in Isiolo are all from Isiolo Town. The cases in Kisii are from Bonchari and the case in Garissa is from Garissa Town.

The ministry also announced that 231 people have recovered from the diseases, 130 being from home-based care and 101 being discharged from various hospitals. This now brings recoveries to 37,194. Another 17 people have succumbed to the disease taking fatalities to 1,013
