Ministry confirms 243 new positive cases

The ministry has today announced that 243 people have tested positive from a sample of 4,385 tested in the last 24 hours. This now brings to 39,427 the cumulative number of cases in the country. The gender distribution is 179 for males and 64 females while age distribution is 4 month old for the youngest and 810years for the oldest.
The counties affected are Nairobi with 70, Nakuru 44, Trans Nzoia 30, Kisumu 15, Mombasa 15, Narok 13, Kiambu 11, Kericho 10, Kakamega 7, Machakos 6, Isiolo 4, Kajiado 3, Meru 3, Bungoma 3, Nandi 3, Uasin Gishu 2 with Bomet, Kirinyaga, Laikipia and Kilifi recording 1 case each.
In Nairobi, 28 are from Starehe, 12 from Langa’ta, 6 from Kasarani, 5each from Kibra and Westlands, 3 from Embakasi West, 2 each from Dagorettin North and Kamukunji and 1 each from Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi North, Embakasi South, Makadara, Roysambu and Ruaraka each recording 1 case each. In Nakuru, 20 are from Naivasha, 12 fromNakuru East, 7 from Nakuru West, 4 from Rongai and 1 from Nakuru North. In Trans Nzoia, 29 are from saboti and 1 from Kiminini. In Kisumu, 11 are from Kisumu Central and 2 each from Kisumu East and Nyando.
In Mombasa, 11 are from Jomvu and 4 from Mvita while in Narok 7 are from Narok North, 4 from Trans Mara East and 1 each from Narok East and Narok South. In Kiambu, 6 are from Thika, 4 from Ruiru and 1 from Kikuyu. In Kericho, all cases are from Ainamoi while in Kakamega 4 are from Lurambi, 2 from Shinyalu and 1 from Lugari. The cases in Machakos are Machakos town with 3, Kathiani 2 and 1 from Athi River. In Isiolo, all cases are from Isiolo Town. The cases in Kajiado are from Kajiado North with 2 and 1 from Kajiado East. In Meru, all cases are from Imenti North while in Bungoma, Kimilili, Sirisia and Webuye have 1 each.
The cases in Nandi are from Chesumei with 2 and Mosop with 1 while in Uasin Gishu, Moiben and Turbo have 1 each. Bomet’s 2 cases are from Bomet Central. Kirinyaga’s case is from Kirinyaga Central, Laikipia’s from Laikipia East and Kilifi’s case from Malindi.
Another 233 people have recovered and been discharged, with 219 from Home-based care program and 14 discharged from various hospitals. The recoveries now stand at 26,659 while the number of fatalities rose to 731 as 3 people succumbed to the disease.
