The Ministry of Health has today announced that the number of infections now stand at 2,021 with 59 new confirmed cases of Corona virus infections in the country recorded in the last 24 hours.

This number comes from a total of 1,518 samples tested with the cumulative number of samples tested in the country now at 80, 054.

The Health CS, Hon Mutahi Kagwe said the gender distribution of the cases is 35 for males and 24 for females with the age distribution being 10 years for the youngest and 76 years for the oldest.

The cases are distributed in Nairobi with 29, Mombasa 14, Turkana 6, Busia 4, Taita Taveta 2, Kajiado 2 with Kiambu and Kilifi each having 1.

In Mombasa, 6 cases are from Mvita and Kisauni, Nyali, Jomvu and Changamwe having 2 cases each.  The cases in Turkana are all at Nadapal Point of Entry.

In Nairobi, 8 of the cases are Ruaraka, 6 from Westlands, 4 from Dagoretti North, 4 from Lang’ata, 3 from Kibra and Embakasi East, Kasarani, Kamukunji and Makadara each having 1 case each.

The cases from Busia are spread in Malaba Point of Entry with 3 and Alupe quarantine 1. In Taita Taveta, the 2 cases are from Mwatate while Kajiado’s cases are from Kajiado East.

The case in Kiambu is from Thika while the case in Kilifi is from Rabai.

The CS also confirmed that 8 more people have been discharged from hospital raising the number of revoveries in the country to 482.

He however disclosed that 5 more patients have succumbed to the disease raising the number of fatalities to 69.
