Machakos in the spotlight as it records its first Covid-19 case

The Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Rashid Aman today announced that 14 new Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours from a total of 922 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This brings the total number of cases to 621. All cases are Kenyans.

So far the number of samples tested in the country are 29,430.

The health CAS announced that the cases by counties is; 10 in Nairobi, 3 in Mombasa and 1 in machakos. Machakos becomes the latest county to record a positive case. The number of counties now affected are 19 in total.

In Nairobi, the cases are distributed in Kasarani with 4, 2 from Makadara and 1 each from Umoja 1, South C, Irigu in Dagoretti South and mandatory quarantine. In Mombasa all 3 cases are from Likoni while in Machakos the case is from Athi River.

In terms of age distribution, the youngest is 11 months old while the oldest is 49 years old. In terms of gender, 9 are males while 5 are females.

He also announced that 5 people were discharged bringing the total number of recoveries to 202.
