Kenya records 947 new cases

Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe has today announced that 947 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a total of 6,862 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This now brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 48,790. From the cases, 924 are Kenyans and 23 foreigners with 595 of today’s cases being males and 352 females. The youngest of the cases is 1 year old and oldest being 96.

The cases are distributed in Uasin Gishu with 181, Nairobi 154, Nakuru 146, Kakamega 46, Mombasa 37, Kisumu 37, Kiambu 30, Kericho 30, Busia 28, Turkana 27, Laikipia 24, Trans Nzoia 21, Migori 20, Kisii 18, Meru 17, West Pokot 15, Marsabit 14, Bungoma 13, Murang’a 11, Vihiga 10, Siaya 9, Bomet 9, Nandi 8, Elgeyo Marakwet 7, Baringo 6, Kajiado 5, Kitui 5, Isiolo 5, Wajir 3, Machakos 2, Kilifi 2, Narok 2, Tharaka Nithi 2, Samburu 2 and Nyeri 1.

In Uasi Gishu, 137 are from Ainabkoi, 40 from Turbo, 2 from Kesses and 1 each from Kapseret and Moiben. In Nairobi, 17 are from Langa’ata, 13 from Westlands, 11 each from Embakasi East, Kibra, Makadara and Roysambu, 10 from Dagoretti North, 9 each from Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Kasarani and Starehe, 8 from Embakasi Central, 6 each from Dagoretti South and Embakasi North, 5 each from Embakasi South and Ruaraka and 4 from Mathare. In Nakuru, 54 are from Nakuru West, 51 from Nakuru East, 24 from Gilgil, 13 from Naivasha and  4 from Kuresoi South.

In Kakamega, 39 are from Lurambi, 6 from Mumias West and 1 from Lugari. In Mombasa, 33 are from Jomvu, 2 from Likoni and 1 each from Kisauni and Nyali. In Kisumu, 19 are from Kisumu Central, 15 from Nyakach, 2 from Nyando and 1 from Kisumu East. In Kiambu, 13 are from Thika, 8 from Kiambu Town, 3 each from Juja and Kiambaa and 1 from Ruiru. In Kericho, 17 are from Ainamoi, 8 from Bureti and 5 from Belgut. In Busia, 17 are from Matayos, 9 from Teso North and 2 from Teso South. In Turkana, 18 are from Turkana West  and 9 from Turkana Central.

In Laikipia, all cases are from Laikipia East while the cases in Trans Nzoia are from Kiminini with 11, Cherangany 5, Kwanza 3 and Endebess and Saboti recording 1 case each. In Migori, 17 are from Rongo and 3 from Kuria West. In Kisii, 14 are fro Kitutu Chache South and 1 each from Bobasi, Bonchari, Nyaribari Chache and NyaribareMasaba. In Meru, 10 are from Imenti North, 4 from Igembe Central, 2 from Igembe South and 1 from Tigania West. In West Pokot, all cases are from West Pokot while Marsabit’s cases are from Moyale. In Bungoma, 10 are from Kandunyi and 3 from Kimilili. In Muranga, 5 are from Mathioya, 2 each from Kiharu and Maragwa and 1 each from Kandara and Kangema.

In Vihiga, all cases are all from Vihiga Town while in Siaya, 7 are from Alego Usonga and 2 from Bondo. In Bomet, 7 are from Bomet East and 2 from Bomet Central. In Nandi all cases are from Emgwen. In Elgeiyo Marakwet, all cases are from Keiyo North while Baringo’s cases are from Koibatek with 3, Baringo Central with 2 and Mogotio with 1. In Kajiado, 4 are from Kajiado North and 1 from Kajiado East. The cases in Kitui are all from Kitui Central and the cases in Isiolo are all from Garbatulla.

In Wajir, all cases are from Wajir East while the cases in Machakos are Athi River and Kangundo. In Kilifi, all cases are from Malindi while the cases in Narok are from Narok East and Narok South. All cases in Tharaka Nithi are from Tharaka South while the cases in Samburu all are from Samburu Central with the case in Nyeri being from Nyeri Central.

A total of 455 people have recovered within the same time period bringing to 33,876 the number of recoveries in the country. He also disclosed that  12 more people have sucummbed to the disease taking fatalities to 896.
