Kenya records 492 new cases

Today, 492 people have tested positive from a sample of 3,728 tested in the past 24 hours. This now brings to 57,093 confirmed cases in the country. From today’s number’s, 474 are Kenyans with 18 being foreigners all aged between 1 year old and 88 years old. The gender distribution is 292 for males and 200 for females.

In terms of counties affected, Nairobi has 226 cases, Mombasa 70,Kiambu 34, Machakos 22, Kajiado 17, Uasin Gishu 16, Kwale 13, Kilifi 11, Meru 10, Nakuru 9, Laikipia 7, Kisumu 7, Mandera 7, Samburu 6, Narok 4, Nyeri 3, Murang’a 3, Vihiga 3, Kericho 3, with Kakamega, Embu, Kisii, Kirinyaga, Bungoma, Nandi, Isiolo, Taita Taveta, Tharaka Nithi and Migori recording 2 cases each.

In Nairobi, 29 are from Lang’ata, 24 from Starehe, 21 from Dagoretti North, 21 Westlands, 16 Mathare, 15 Roysambu, 14 Kamukunji, 13 Kasarani, 12 Kibra, 10 each from Dagoretti South, Embakasi East, Embakasi South and Embakasi West, 9 each from Embakasi North and Ruaraka, 2 from Embakasi Central and 1 from Makadara. In Mombasa, 48 are from Mvita, Nyali 14, Jomvu 7 and 1 from Likoni. In Kiambu, 8 are from Kiambaa, 7 each from Kiambu Town and Ruiru, 4 from Kikuyu, 3 each from Juja and Thika and 1 each from Gatundu and Lari. In Machakos, 9 are from Athi River, 8 from Machakos Town, 3 from Matungulu and 1 each from Kathiani and Masinga. In Kajiado, 12 are from Kajiado East and 5 from Kajiado North while in Uasin Gishu, 6 are from Kesses, 5 from Kapseret, 4 from Ainabkoi and 1 from Moiben.

In Kwale, 12 are from Msambweni and 1 from Lingalunga while in Kilifi, 7 are from Malindi and 4 from Magarini. In Meru, 5 are from Imenti North, 4 from Imenti South and 1 from Buuri while in Nakuru, 5 are from Nakuru East and 1 each from Gilgil, Naivasha, Nakuru West and Njoro. In Laikipia, 5 are from Laikipia West and 2 from Laikipia East. Kisumu’s cases are from Kisumu Central and the cases in Mandera are from Mandera East with 5 and 1 each from Mandera South and Mandera West. In Samburu, all cases are from Samburu Central while the cases in Narok are from Transmara West. In Nyeri, the cases are from Mathira East with 2 and 1 from Tetu with the cases in Muranga being from Kiharu and Kandara. In Vihiga, Hamisi, Sabatia and Vihiga each have 1 case. In Kericho, 2 are from Ainamoi and 1 from Kipkelion East.

In Kakamega, all cases are from Matungu with the cases in Embu being from Manyatta. Kisii’s cases are from Bonchari and Kitutu Chache South and the cases in Kirinyaga are from Kirinyaga West. Bungoma’s cases are from Kandunyi and the cases in Nandi are from Chesumei and Emgwen. In Isiolo, all cases are from Isiolo Town with the cases in Taita Taveta being from Voi. Tharaka Nithi’s cases are from Chuka and Migori’s cases from Rongo and Suna East

The Health CS also announced that 404 patients have recovered from the virus, with 246 being from home-based care and 158 having been discharged from various hospitals. Recoveries now stand at 37,846. He also reported that 12 people have succumbed to the disease taking fatalities to 1,039.
