Kenya receives 25,000 testing kits donation

The health CS, Hon Mutahi Kagwe announced today that in the last 24 hours, a total of 82 samples have been tested in various laboratories, namely National Influenza Center, KEMRI Nairobi, KEMRI-Welcome Trust Kilifi and Aga Khan Hospital Nairobi. Out of these samples, 9 people have tested positive for the virus bringing the total number of infections in the country to 25.
The confirmed cases are spread out in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi and Kwale and 7 of the cases are Kenyans while 2 are foreigners.
The CS said the new patients have been taken into isolation in the Government facilities and are being monitored.
He also confirmed that the Government of Kenya had received a donation of 25,000 testing kits Chinese business magnate Jack Ma in an effort to aid in fighting the disease.
He later on addressed the challenges they were facing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, as well as the designated hotels and government facilities, where travellers we held under mandatory quarantine asking the travellers to bear with the government as they continue to undertake this process .
