Kenya prepares for Makadara Day with 1,962 infections

The health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Rashid Aman has today confirmed that the country has recorded 74 new cases of Corona virus. This now brings the total number of infections to the country 1,962.
He said that this number comes from a total sample of 1,574 tested within the past 24 hours. Distribution in terms of gender is 55 for males and 19 females aged between 3 years old for the youngest and 79 years for the oldest.
Nairobi has continued to see spiking numbers as it 35 cases were recorded from the county followed closely by Mombasa with 23. In other counties, Busia has 6, Kiambu 2, Kajiado 2,Kwale 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kilifi 1, Taita Taveta 1 and Laikipia 1. Laikipia becomes the latest county to get affected as counties affected now standing at 34.
The cases in Nairobi are spread in Lang’ata with 19, Embakasi Central 3, Embakasi East 3, Dagoretti North 2, Westlands 2, Embakasi South 2 and Kasarani, Makadara, Kamukunji and Starehe each having 1 case.
In Mombasa, 11 are from Mvita, 4 from Kiasauni, 3 from Nyali, 3 from Likoni and Jomvu together with Changamwe recording 1 case.
The 6 cases from Busia are from Alupe mandatory quarantine with 5 and the other at Malaba point of entry. Ruiru and Limuru each have 1 in Kiambu while in Kwale, Msambweni has 1 with Lungalunga point of entry having 1.
Kajiado has a case each in Kajiado North and Kajiado Central,Uasin Gishu’s case is from Turbo, in kilifi the case is from Kilifi quarantine facility and Taita Taveta case from Taveta quarantine facilty. The latest case from Laikipia is from Laikipia East.
The CAS also announce that 14 more people have been discharged from hospital bringing number of recoveries to 474. He however confirmed that 1 more patient has died bringing number of fatalities to 64.
