Highest number of cases recorded as 24 people test positive for Covid-19

24 Kenyans have tested positive for Corona virus in the last 24 hours from total of 1,195 samples tested. This becomes the highest recorded number since the first case was reported in the country on 12 March, 2020.The total number of infections now stands at 435.

The Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Mercy Mwangangi today announced that 17 of the cases are from Nairobi, 5 are from Mombasa while 2 are from Migori County.

In Nairobi, the cases are distributed in Kawangware with 7 and Eastleigh 10. In Mombasa, the cases were picked up in Mikindani (2),Mwembe Tayari (2) and Shimanzi (1) while in Migori, the 2 cases were from Kuria West. These 2 had a history of travel from Tanzania.

She also announced that the age brackets are; 1-19 years with 4, 20-39 years with 14, 40-60 with 6. In terms of gender, 10 are males while 14 are females.

A total of 2 patients have been discharged from the facilities who tested negative on two different occasions after treatment. Recoveries now stand at 152.

1 more patient succumbed to the disease in Mombasa bringing the number of deaths to 22.
