Health CS warns truck drivers,boda boda operators as 16 more test positive

The health CS, Hon Mutahi Kagwe today cautioned truck drivers who have been discovered of smuggling people in and out of counties, and even from neighboring countries stating that they were undermining the country’s effort to combat the disease. He also noted that boda boda operators continue to carry more than one passenger a time, showing disobedience in the set out social distancing measures.
He went on to announce that in the last 24 hours, the country increased its testing capacity to test 1,115 samples. From these, 16 have tested positive for the virus bringing to 262 the number of confirmed cases in the country.15 of the cases are Kenyans while 1 is a foreigner. In terms of gender, 12 are males while 4 are females aged between 23 and 84 years.None has a history of travel and none of the cases is from the quarantine centres.
9 of the cases are from Nairobi, 5 from Mombasa and 1 from Homabay. 7 people have been discharged bringing the number of recoveries to 60.
The country has lost 1 more patient bringing the total number of deaths to 12.
