Government to work with Africa CDC and WHO to scale up testing

The Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Mercy Mwangangi today stated that in the coming days the Government of Kenya will be engaged with the Africa Centre for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners in an effort to increase the testing capacity of Corona virus disease as the ministry starts their targeted testing of quarantine centres.
She announced that a total of 491 samples have been tested within the last 24 hours and out of these, 2 people have tested positive , 1 being Kenyan and 1 being a foreigner. The 2 are from Mombasa and Nairobi with no recent history of travel. The number of infections now stand at 191.
The 2 are a 2 year old and a 32 year old who were picked by the ministry’s surveillance teams.
Within the same period, 2 more people were discharged from hospital raising the number of recoveries to 24.
