Dr. Mercy Mwangangi: The virus is firmly in our midst

Kenyan has recorded 127 more cases.

The Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Health, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced this, saying the figure came from a total of 3,831 samples tested within the last 24 hours. This now brings the total tally to 1,745. All except 1 are Kenyans

She also stated that the high numbers recorded in the past few days show that the virus is firmly within the midst of Kenyans and called for cooperation in dealing with the pandemic.

She disclosed that in terms of county distribution, Nairobi has 76 cases, Mombasa 19, Busia 16, Uasin Gishu 8, Kiambu 2, Kajiado 5 and Isiolo 1.

The sub county distribution in Nairobi is; Kibra 49, Ruaraka 13, Makadara 4, Westlands 4, Langata 2 with Embakasi West, Kasarani, Dagoretti  North and Starehe each having 1.

In Mombasa, Kisauni has 7,Mvita 6, Nyali3, Likoni 2 and Jomvu 1. In Busia, 8 are from Busia, 6 from Alupe Quarantine Facility and 2 from Malaba entry points.

In Uasin Gishu, all the cases are from Turbo, Kajiado from Kajiado North with 2 and Namanga Border 3. In Kiambu, the two cases are from Kiambu Town and Kabete. Isiolo’s case is from Isiolo Town.

The number of recoveries has seen a steady rise as 17 more people have been discharged bringing recoveries to 438.

Another 4 people have lost their lives to the within the last 24 hours. All had underlying conditions.
