Death toll rise to 1,111 as 719 test positive

The ministry has today announced that 719 people have tested positive for the virus from 4,732 samples tested in the past 24 hours. This now brings to 62,488 the number of positive cases recorded in the country. From today’s numbers, 684 are Kenyans and 34 foreigners with the gender distribution being 451 for males and 268 females. The youngest of the cases is 5 month old and oldest is 81 years old.
The counties affected are; Nairobi 336, Mombasa 84, Busia 50, Kiambu 45, Turkana 33, Kajiado 24, Kitui 21, Nyeri 20, Garissa 20, Nakuru 18, Kakamega 17, Mandera 14, Machakos 9,Kilifi 4, Kirinyaga 4 , Trans Nzoia, Homabay 3, Tharaka Nithi 3, Nyandarua 2, Meru 2 with Isiolo, Kwale, Nyamira, Laikipia, Migori and Embu recording 1 case each.
In Nairobi, Kibra has 46, Starehe 37, Westlands 32, Lang’ata 28, Dagoretti North 25, Embakasi West 24, Kamukunji 23, Dagoretti South 17, Embakasi East 15, 14 each from Makadara and Mathare, Embakasi Central 11, Roysambu 7 and 6 from Embakasi South. In Mombasa, Mvita has 30, Jomvu 19, 10 each from Kisauni and Changamwe, Nyali 8 and Likoni 7. In Kiambu, Kiambu Town has 16, Ruiru 9, Kiambaa 6, Kikuyu 4, 3 each from Kabete and Thika, Lari 2 and 1 each from Gatundu South and Juja. All cases in Turkana are from Turkana West.
In Kajiado, Kajiado North has 16, Kajiado East 6 and Loitoktok 2 while in Kitui, Kitui Central has 8, Kitui Rural 5, Mwingi West 3, 2 each from Kitui East and Kitui West and 1 from Mwingi Central. In Nyeri, Nyeri Central has 14 and 3 each from Mathira East and Tetu. In Garissa, 17 are from Dadaab, 2 from Garissa Town and 1 from Lagdera. In Nakuru, all cases are from Naivasha, while in Kakamega, 14 are from Lurambi, 2 from Likuyani and 1 from Lugari. In Mandera, all cases are from Mandera East with the cases in Machakos recorded in Athi River with 7 and 1 each from Kangundo and Machakos Town. In Kilifi, 3 are from Malindi and 1 from Kaloleni while the cases in Kirinyaga are from Kirinyaga Central and Kirinyaga East with 2 each.
In Trans Nzoia, there are 2 each from Cherangany and Kimini while in Homabay all cases are from Homabay Town. In Tharaka Nithi, Chuka has 2 and Tharaka South 1. In Nyandarua, all cases are from Ol Kalou while in Meru all cases are from Imenti North. Isiolo’s case is from Isiolo Town, Kwale’s case from Msambweni, Nyamira’s case from Manga, Laikipia’s case from Laikipia West, Migori’s case from Rongo and Embu’s case from Manyatta.
The ministry has also confirmed that 912 people have recovered from the disease, with 782 being from home-based care program and 130 having been discharged from various hospitals. Recoveries now stand at 41,931. They also reported that 8 people have succumbed from the disease taking fatalities to 1,111.
