Country’s Covid-19 death toll reaches 506

The ministry has today announced 379 new Covid-19 cases from a sample of 3,867 tested in the past 24 hours. The total tally in the country now stands at 31,015. From today’s cases, 372 are Kenyans while 7 are foreigners with gender distribution being 223 for males and 156 for females. The age distribution is between 1 year old for the youngest and 87 years for the oldest.

The counties affected are Nairobi with 219, Kiambu 40, Uasin Gishu 28, Kajiado 14, Machakos 13, Kisumu 10, Mombasa 7, Kericho 6, Baringo 5, Bomet 5, Nandi 4, Nyeri 4, Isiolo 3, Narok 3, Busia 2, Garissa 2, Homabay 2, Kilifi 2, Kirinyaga 1, Kisii 1, Laikipia 1, Makueni 1, Nyamira 1, Taita Taveta 1and Trans Nzoia 1.

In Nairobi, Starehe has 28, Westlands 28, Embakasi East 21, Makadara 20, Langa’ta 18, Dagoretti North 15, Ruaraka 13, Kibra 12, Kasarani 11, Roysambu 10, Embakasi South 8, Embakasi West 8, Dagoretti South, Kamukunji and Mathare each recording 6 each, Embakasi North 5 and Embakasi Central 4. The cases in Kiambu are from Thika with 12, Ruiru 11, Kiambaa 6, Kiambu Town 6, Githunguri 2, Juja 2 and Gatundu South 1.

In Uasin Gishu, 13 are from Turbo, 12 from Ainabkoi and 3 from Kesses. In Kajiado, Kajiado North has 9, Kajiado East 4 and Kajiado central 1. In Machakos, 5 are from Matungulu, 3 from Athi River, 3 from Machakos and Masinga and Yatta recording 1 each. Kisumu’s cases are from Kisumu East with 7, Kisumu Central 3 and Nyando 1. In Mombasa, 3 are from Kisauni, 2 from Changamwe and 1 each from Jomvu and Mvita.

In Kericho, 5 are from Ainamoi and 1 from Buret. In Baringo, 4 are from Imaligat and 1 from Baringo Central while in Bomet all cases are from Bomet East. All cases in Nandi are from Emgwen. The cases in Nyeri are all in Nyeri Central and the cases in Isiolo are from Gabatulla. In Narok, 3 are from Narok North and 1 from Trans Mara West. The cases in Busia are from Matayos and Teso North while in Garissa the cases are from Dadaab.

Homabay’s cases are in Homabay Town and Rachuonyo while in Kilifi all cases are from Kilifi South. Kirinyaga’s case is from Mwea East, Kisii’s case from Kitutu Chache South, Laikipia’s case from Laikipia West, Makueni’s case from Makueni Town, Taita Taveta’s case from Voi and Trans Nzoia’s case from Cherangany.

The Health CAS also announced that 244 people have recovered in the same period, with 168 being from home based care program and 76 from various hospitals bringing total recoveries to 17,612. She also reported that 19 people have succumbed to the disease raising fatalities to 506.
