Country totals 30,120 cases as 271 test positive

Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe has today announced that 271 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours from a sample of 3,746 tested. This now brings the cumulative number of infections in the country to 30,120. Out of today’s cases, 268 are Kenyans with 3 foreigners all aged between 8 month old and 86 years old. In terms of gender, 170 are males and 101 females.
The cases are distributed in Nairobi with 126, Busia 14, Kirinyaga 13, Machakos 12, Narok 12, Kiambu 11, Kajiado 10, Kitui 10, Nakuru 10, Kisumu 8, Samburu 8, Garissa 8, Mombasa 6, Nyeri 4, Trans Nzoia 4, Taita Taveta 3, Lamu 3, Kakamega 2, Kisii and Bungoma, Kilifi, Makueni, Murang’a and SIaya each recording 1 case each.
In Nairobi, Westlands has 16, Kamukunji 14, Ruaraka 11, Kasarani, Langata and Roysambu 9 each, Embakasi West and Starehe 7 each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi East and Makadara 6 each, Dagoretti North, Embakasi South and Kibra 5 each, Embakasi Central and Embakasi North 4 eac while Mathare has 3 cases.
In Busia, 11 are from Matayos and 3 from Teso North. All of Kirinyaga’s cases are from Kirinyaga East. The cases in Machakos are from Machakos Town with 7, Athi River 3, Kangundo 1 and Yatta 1. Narok’s cases are from Narok North with 10 while Narok east and Trans Mara have 1 each. In Kiambu, Kabete and Ruiru have 4 each while Kiambaa, Kiambu Town and Kikuyu have 1 case each. All cases in Kajiado are from Kajiado North. In Kitui all cases are from Kitui Central while Nakuru has 5 each from Naivasha and Nakuru.
Ini Kisumu, Muhoroni and Nyando have 3 cases aech while Kisumu West has 2 cases. In Samburu all cases are from Samburu Central while in Garissa all cases are from Garissa Town. Mombasa has 4 from Mvita and 1 each from Jomvu and Kisauni. In Nyeri, 3 cases are from Nyeri Central and 1 from Mathira East. In Trans Nzoia, 2 are from Saboti and 1 each from Cherengani and Mathira.
In Taita Taveta, all cases are from Voi while in Lamu all cases are in Lamu Town. In Kakamega, Ikolomani and Lurambi have 1 each. In Kisii all cases are from Kitutu Chache South. Bungoma’s case is from Kandunyi, Kilifi’s case from Kilifi Town, Makueni’s case from Makueni Town, Muranga’s case from Maragua and Siaya’s case from Ugunja.
He also reported that 686 people have recovered and been discharged from various hospitals and home based care raising the number of recoveries in the country to 16,656. Another 2 people have succumbed to the disease taking fatalities to 474.
