Country records 48 cases from 1,081

Health CAS, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi has today announced that 48 people have tested positive in the last 24 hours from 1,081 samples tested. This now brings the country’s case load to 36,205. All cases are Kenyans with the gender distribution being 31 for males and 17 females. The age distribution is 12 year old for the youngest and 75 years for the oldest.
The cases are distributed in Mombasa with 20, Nairobi 15, Tharaka Nithi 4, Kiambu 2, Kilifi 2, Meru 2, Machakos 1, Wajir 1 and Homabay 1.
Mombasa’s cases are in Jomvu with 8, Mvita 7, Changamwe 4 and 1 in Likoni. In Nairobi, 3 are from Westlands and 2 each from Embakasi East and Lang’ata while Dagoretti North, Dagoretti South, Embakasi South, Embakasi West, Kibra, Makadara, Ruaraka and Starehe recording 1 each. In Tharaka Nithi all cases are from Chuka. In Kiambu, Limuru and Kiambu Town have 1 each. In Kilifi, Ganze and Kilifi North recorded 1 each.
In Meru. Imenti North and Imenti South have 1 case each.The case in Machakos is from Athi River, wajir’s case from Wajir East and the case in Homabay is from Homabay Town.
She also announced that 176 people have recovered, 45 being from home-based care and 131 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 23,243. She also reported 2 more patient have succumbed taking fatalities to 624.
