Additional measures imposed on Eastleigh and Old Town

28 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours from a total of 1,611 samples bringing the number of confirmed cases to 649, said the Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr. Rashid Aman during today’s press briefing.

Out of the 28 cases, 24 are Kenyans while 4 are from Tanzania.

Mombasa recorded 10 cases, 9 are from Nairobi,2 in Kajiado and 1 each from machakos, kiambu and Homabay. The cases in Mombasa are from; Mvita with 4, Nyali 4 and 2 from Likoni. The cases in Nairobi ares spread out in;Embakasi with 3, Eastleigh 2 and 1 each from Kayole, Huruma, South B and Kawangware.

He (CAS) also said that the age range is between 11 years for the youngest and 81 years for the oldest. 17 of the case are male while 11 are females.

He also reported that the country recorded 5 additional recoveries  bringing the number of recoveries to 207.

1 fatality was recorded bringing the number of recorded deaths to 30.

 

He also mentioned additional measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus in 2 designated area; Eastleigh in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa. These measures are;

  1. Prohibition of hawking within Eastleigh and Old Town in Mombasa.
  2. Prohibition of gatherings of whatever nature.
  3. Continued closure of all malls, markets,restaurants and eateries.
