7 turn negative as number of confirmed cases rises to 7

As of today the country has recorded a total of 7 cases, said the Health CS, Mutahi Kagwe in a press briefing. 3 cases were confirmed today from tests carried out at the National Influenza Centre and KEMRI laboratories. All the cases were from individuals who had been outside the country .
The first two cases were from a couple that had travelled from Madrid, Spain on 4th March,2020 through Dubai arriving in the country on 5th March, 2020. The third involves a Burundian national who had travelled from Dubai to Kenya arriving on 17th March, 2020 and was picked at JKIA by the Ministry of Health surveillance team with high temperature during a routing screening.
The Health CS also added that 18 cases were currently admitted at the Mbagathi Isolation Centre. Out of these, 11 have their samples being processed in two designated laboratories while the remaining 7 had been tested and found to be negative. They are being processed for discharge to continue self-quarantine.
