672 recover with 515 testing positive

Health CAS, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi has today announced that 515 people have tested positive for Covid-19 virus in the past 24 from 6,353 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This now brings the cumulative number of cases in the country to 29,849. From the cases, 496 are Kenyans and 19 are foreigners with 316 of the new cases are males and 199 are females all aged between 8 month old for the youngest and 92 years for the oldest.

The cases are distributed in Nairobi with 251, Kitui 41, Kiambu 33, Kericho 23, Kisii 19, Bomet 19, Nakuru 18, Homabay 16, Laikipia 12, Murang’a 11, Migori 10, Nyeri 9, Uasin Gishu 8, Kajiado 8, Mombasa 7, Lamu 5, Narok 4, Busia 4, Embu 3, Machakos 3, Nandi 3, Nyandarua 3, Wajir 3 and Kakamega 2.

In Nairobi, the cases are from Makadara with 28, Westlands 27, Starehe 24, Kasarani 18, Lang’ata 18, Emabakasi West 16, Dagoretti North 15, Emabakasi East 13, Kamukunji 12, Dagoretti South and Embakasi South 11 each, Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Kibra and Ruaraka 10 each with Mathare and Roysambu have 9 each. In Kitui all the cases are from Kitui Central, In Kiambu 10 are from Thika, 6 from Kiambu Town, Juja,Kabete, Lari 3, Gatundu South 2 and Gatundu North, Githunguri, Kiambaa, Kikuyu, Limuru and Ruiru recording 1 each.

In Kericho, Ainamoi has 23 and Kipkelion 1. Kisii has 18 cases in Kituti Chache South and 1 in Bomachoge Borabu. All cases in Bomet are from Bomet East. The cases in Nakuru are from Nakuru West with 11, Nakuru East 3, Naivasha 2 with Joro and Rogai having 1 each. The cases in Homabay are all from Homabay Town.

The cases in Laikipia are from Laikipia East with 8 and Laikipia West 4. Muranga’s cases are from Kiharu with 5, Kandara 4 and Mathioya 2. In Migori, Kuria West has 8 with Rogo and Suna East recording 1 each. Nyeri has 7 cases in Nyeri Central and 1 each from Mathira and Murukweini. In Uasin Gishu, 5 are from Ainabkoi, 2 from Turbo and 1 from Kapseret. The cases in Kajiado are from Kajiado North with 5 and Kajiado East 3.

In Mombasa, Kisauni and Nyali have 2 cases each while Changamwe, Jomvu and Mvita have 1 each. In Lamu, 4 are from Lamu east and 1 from Lamu West while the cases in Narok are from Trans Mara West with 3 and Narok North 1. The cases in Busia are from Teso South with 2 and Matayos and Teso North recording 1 each. In Embu, 2 are from Manyatta and 1 from Mbeere South. In Machakos all cases are from Athi River while the cases in Nandi are from Emgwen. In Nyandarua, the cases are from Ol-Kalou with 2 and 1 in Kinangop. The cases in Wajir are all from Wajir East while in Kakamega, Butere and Malava have 1 each.

The CAS also announced that 672 people have recovered and been discharged raising recoveries in the country to 15,970. Another 7 people have succumbed to the disease taking the tally to 472.
