278 test positive from 1,403 samples tested

The ministry, in a press statement released today announced that 278 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample of 1,403 tested in the last 24 hours. This now brings the total case load in the country to 9,726.

From today’s numbers, 273 are Kenyans while 5 are foreign nationals, with 166 being males and 112 females. The age range is between 1 year old and 86 years old.

In terms of county distribution, Nairobi has 162, Kajiado 40, Kiambu 28, Machakos 22, Nakuru 16, Siaya 2, Mombasa 2, Muranga 1, Nyamira 1, Meru 1, Homa Bay 1, Nyandarua 1 and Uasin Gishu 1.

In Nairobi, 37 are from Dagoretti North, Kibra 21, Langata 18, Embakasi East 16, Westlands 12, Starehe 11, Kasarani 8, Embakasi South 7, Embakasi Central 6, Embakasi West 6, Mathare 5, Kamukunji 4, Makadara 4, Roysambu 4, Dagoretti  South 2 and Embakasi North 1.

In Kajiado, Kajiado East has 27, Kajiado North 9 and Kajiado Central 4. In Kiambu, Limuru has 7, Thika 6, Kikuyu 4, Ruiru 4, Kabete 3, Juja 2 with Gatundu South and Kiambaa each having 1 case.In Machakos, all cases are in Athi River, in Nakuru 7 are from Naivasha, 5 from Nakuru East, 2 from Nakuru West and 2 from Nakuru North.

In Mombasa, the cases are in Mvita and Kisauni, In Murang’a, the case is from Maragwa, Nyamira’s case is from Nyamira Town,Homa Bay’s case from Homa Bay Town, Nyandarua’s case from Kinangop, meru’s case from North-Imenti and Uasin Gishu’s case from Turbo.

A total of 99 people have been discharged from various hospitals bringing total recoveries to 2,832 with 3 more deaths recorded in the same period raising fatalities to 184.
