Kenya’s cases rise to 490 with 25 more cases recorded

In the last 24hrs, a total of 1,012 samples were tested and out of this 25 cases were reported bringing the total number to 490.
From the 25, 15 originated from Nairobi while 10 were from Mombasa with all of them being Kenyans and with no history of travel, said the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) of Health, Dr. Mercy Mwangangi.
The cases in Nairobi are distributed in the following areas: Umoja 2, Kawangware 2, Eastleigh 8, Kahawa West 1 and Kariobangi South 1. In Mombasa the cases are from Old Town 8, Bombolulu 1 and Jomvu 1.
13 out of the confirmed cases are male and 12 female with youngest being 6 months and oldest being 60 years. On a positive note the CAS also announced that they had discharged 6 patients from quarantine and this brings the total number of recoveries to 173. No deaths were reported.
This latest briefing came in the wake of healthcare workers issuing a strike notice demanding better workplace protections accusing the government of not ensuring their safety as they work with infected patients.
