248 recoveries recorded with 14 succumbing

Today, 724 people have tested positive from a sample of 5,085 tested in the past 24 hours. This now brings to 56,601 confirmed cases in the country. From today’s number’s, 703 are Kenyans with 21 being foreigners all aged between 1 year old and 84 years old. The gender distribution is 454 for males and 270 for females.

In terms of counties affected, Nairobi has 362 cases, Nakuru 46, Meru 44, Busia 44, Kiambu 38, Bungoma 33, Machakos 24, Laikipia 23, Mombasa 19 ,Garissa 17, Marsabit 10, Kisumu 10, Kajiado 8, Kilifi 8, Uasin Gishu 8 Nyeri 6, Kakamega 3, Kwale 3, Makueni 3, Kisii 2, Murang’a 2, Nyandarua 2, Nandi 2, Isiolo 2 with Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Kitui, Tana River, Migori and Vihiga all recording 1 case each.

In Nairobi, 56 are from Kwale, 47 Langata, 33 Embakasi, 18 Mathare, 16 dagoretti South, 15 each from Embakasi Central and Embakasi North, 14 Makadara, 11 Kasarani, 9 Ruaka, 4 Kibra and 2 from Roysambu. In Nakuru, 20 are from Nakuru East, Nakuru West 14, Kuresoi North 8, Njoro with 2 and Kuresoi South and Rongai recording 1 case each. Meru has 25 cases from Imenti North, 17 from Imenti South and 2 from Igembe Central. In Busia, 25 are from Matayos and 19 from Teso North. In Kiambu, 11 are from Kiambu Town, 8 each from Kabete and Kiambaa, 5 each from Kikuyu and Ruiru , 3 each from Juja and Kiambaa and 1 from Lari. In Bungoma, 16 are from Kandunyi, 5 from Bumula , 3 each from Kimilili, Mt Elgon and Webuye West and 2 each from Kobuchai and Tongaren. Machakos’ cases are from Machakos Town and Athi River with 4 each, 3 from yatta, 2 from Kathiani and 1 from Kangundo.

In Laikipia, all cases are from Laikipia East while in Mombasa, 8 are from Nyali, 7 from Mvita, 2 from Jomvu and 1 each from Likoni and Kisauni. In Marsabit, all cases are from Saku while in Kisumu all cases are from Kisumu Central. In Kajiado, Kajiado East and Kajiado North have 3 each while Kajiado Central has 2. In Kilifi, 7 are from Malindi and 1 from Magarini while in Uasin Gishu, 7 are from Ainabkoi and 1 from Kapseret. In Nyeri all cases are from Mathira East while Kakamega has 2 cases from Lurambi and 1 in Mumias East. In Kwale all cases are from Msambweni while in Makueni Kibwezi East has 2 and 1 from Kibwezi West. In Kisii, all are from Kitutu Chache South with the cases in Murang’a recorded in Gatanga and Kiharu. All cases in Nyandarua are from Kinangop and the cases in Nandi from Emgwen.

Isiolo’s cases are from Isiolo Town, Elgeyo Marakwet’s case from Keiyo North, Kitui’s case from Kitui South, Tana River’s case from Bura, Migori’s case from Awendo and Vihiga’s case from Vihiga.

The Health CS also announced that 248 patients have recovered from the virus, with 178 being from home-based care and 70 having been discharged from various hospitals. Recoveries now stand at 37,442. He also reported that 14 people have succumbed to the disease taking fatalities to 1,027.
