183 new positive cases confirmed

The ministry has today announced that 183 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours from 4,188 samples tested. This now brings to 36,576 the cumulative test in the country. All of the cases are Kenyans except 14 who are foreigners. The gender distribution is 131 for males and 52 for females. Age distribution of the new cases is between 7 month old for the youngest and 80 years for the oldest.

The counties affected are Nairobi with 54, Kisumu 26, Mombasa 20, Trans Nzoia 16, Kericho 11, Nakuru 10, Kisii 7, Machakos 6, Meru 5, Turkana 5, Lamu 3, Nyeri 3, Siaya 3, Kiambu 2, Kajiado 2, Busia 2, Homabay 2, Kilifi 2, Samburu 2, Kakamega 1 and Embu 1.

In Nairobi, 10 are from Starehe, 10 from Westlands, Kibra 6, Embakasi East 5, Dagoretti North 4, Langa’ata 4, Roysambu 3, Dagoretti South 2, Embakasi South 2, Ruaraka 2 with Embakasi Central, Embakasi North, Embakasi West, Kamukunji, Kasarani and Makadara recording 1 case each. In Kisumu, 20 are from Kisumu East, 5 from Kisumu Central and 1 from Nyando. In Mombasa, 10 are from Kisauni, 6 from Jomvu and 1 each from Changamwe, Likoni, Mvita and Nyali. In Trans Nzoia, 12 are from Kiminini and 1 each from Saboti and Kwanza.

In Kericho, 6 are from Ainamoi, 3 from Buret and 2 from Belgut. In Nakuru, 6 are from Naivasha, 3 from Nakuru East and 1 from Gilgil. In Kisii, 5 are from Kitutu Chache South and 1 each from Babasi and Bomachoge Borabu. In Machakos, 4 are from Machakos Town and 2 from Athi River. In Meru all cases are from Imenti North while in Turkana all are from Turkana West. In Lamu, all cases are from Lamu West and in Nyeri there is 1 case each from Kieni East, Mathira East and Nyeri Central while in Siaya all cases are from Alego Usonga. The cases in Kiambu are from Kikuyu and Thika while the cases from Kajiado are from Kajiado East and Kajiado North. In Busia, Matayos and teso North have 1 each while in Homabay the cases are from Homabay Town and Ndhiwa. In Kilifi all cases are from Kaloleni while in SAmburu all are from Samburu Central. kakamega’s case is from Mumias East and Embu’s case is from Manyatta.

ANother 82 people have recovered and been discharged, with 33 being from home based care program and 49 from various hospitals. The recoveries now stand at 23,611 while 5 people have succumbed in the same  period taking fatalities to 642
