134 new cases recorded

The Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr.Mercy Mwangangi has today announced that the country has recorded 134 new Covid-19 infections. The national tally now stands at 2,474. These cases were confirmed from a total of 2,474 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

From the new cases, 131 are Kenyan Nationals, 1 Somali, 1 Tanzanian and 1 Congolese. In terms of gender, 98 are males with 36 females while the age distribution is 6 years for the youngest and 70 years old for the oldest.

The positive cases are spread in Nairobi with 31, Mombasa 67, Busia 15, Machakos 5, Taita Taveta 4, Kilifi 2, Nakuru 2 while Garissa, Murang’a, Kisumu, Uasin Gishu and Kajiado each having 1 case. The cases in Nairobi are spread in Kibra with 19, Westlands 7, Makadara 3, Lang’ata 2, Embakasi East 2 and Ruaraka, Kasarani, Embakasi South each having 1.

Mombasa’s cases are spread in Kisauni with 25, Jomvu 12, Changamwe 10, Mvita 10 and Likoni 1 case. In Busia, the 15 cases are of truck drivers at the border entry point while in Machakos all 5 are from Athi River. In Taita Taveta, all cases are truck drivers from Taveta while in Kilifi, 1 case is from Kilifi South and 1 from Kilifi North.

In Kiambu, 1 case is from Ruiru and 1 in Kabete, Nakuru’s cases are from Naivasha, Garissa in Daadab, Murang’a in Makuyu, Kisumu in Kisumu Central, Uasin Gishu in Turbo (Truck driver), Kericho in Ainamoi and the case in Kajiado is from Kajiado East.

The CAS also reported that 51 patients have been discharged today bringing number of recoveries up to 643. The number of fatality has however risen to 79 as 1 more patient succumbed to the disease.
