The Ministry of Health has today reported that 1,470 have tested  positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours from a sample of 8,072 tested. This now brings to 68,193 the total number of confirmed cases in the country. From today’s cases 1,397 are Kenyans and 73 foreigners all aged between 2 month old and 88 years old. In terms of gender distribution, 986 are males and 484 females.

The affected counties are Nairobi with 649, Mombasa 183, Kilifi 124, Kiambu 77, Kericho 75, Kakamega 37, Kajiado 31, Busia 30, Uasin Gishu 24, Machakos 24, Kisii 22, Nakuru 19, Bomet 17, Kisumu 17, Meru 15, Elgeyo Marakwet 15, Narok 13, Kirinyaga 10, Lamu 9, Mandera 9, Tana River 8, Nyeri 7, Taita Taveta 7, Bungoma 7, Laikipia 5, Nandi 5, Murang’a 4, Trans Nzoia 4, Nyandarua 4, Garissa 4, Vihiga 3, Kwale 2, Homabay 2, Makueni 2, Embu 2 with Nyamira, Tharaka Nithi, Kitui and Isiolo recording 1 case each.

In Nairobi, Langa’ta has 225, Dagoretti North 58, Roysambu 41, 37 each from Dagoretti South and Starehe, Westlands 34, Ruaraka 32, Kamukunji 28, Mathare 27, Embakasi West 24, Makadara 21, Kasarani 20, Embakasi North 17, Kibra 16, Embakasi Central 15, Embakasi East 13 and Embakasi South 4. In Mombasa, Mvita has 64, Nyali 37, Kisauni 32, Likoni 20, Jomvu 19 and 11 in Changamwe. In Kilifi, Malindi has 57, Kilifi South 45, Kilifi North 13, Kaloleni 6 and  3 in Rabai. The cases in Kiambu are from Thika, 14 in Ruiru, Kiambu Town 11, 8 each from Kiambaa and Kikuyu, 6 from Juja, 4 each from Lari and Limuru, 3 from Kabete and 1 from Gatundu South.

In Kericho, Ainaoi has 66, Belgut 7 and 2 from Kipkelion. In Kakamega, Shinyalu has 16, Likuyani has 10 3 each from Butere, Ikolomani and Mumias, 1 each from Malava and Navakholo. In Kajiado, Kajiado East has 14, Kajiado North 13 and 4 in Kajiado Central. In Busia, Matayos has 20, Teso North 5, Nambale 4 and Butula 1. In Uasin Gishu, Ainabkoi has 13, Turbo 6, Kapseret 3, Kesses and Moiben 1 each and in Machakos, 19 are from Athi River and 5 from Machakos. In Kisii, Kitutu Chache South has 20 and 1 each from Bonchari and South Mugirango.  In Nakuru, 8 are from Nakuru West, 6 from Nakuru East, 3 fom Naivasha and 1 each from Nakuru North and Njoro.

In Bomet, 14 are fro Bomet East and 3 from Bomet Central while in Kisumu, 11 are from Kisumu Central, 5 from Nyakach and 1 from Kisumu West. In Meru, 8 are from Imenti North, 2 from Buuri and 1 each from Igembe Central, Igembe South, Imenti Central, Imenti South and Tigania West. In Elgeyo Marakwet all cases are from Keiyo North while the cases in Narok are from  Transmara West with 11 and Narok North with 2. In Kirinyaga, Kirinyaga West has 8 and 1 each from Kirinyaga Central and Kirinyaga East. In Lamu, all cases are from Lamu West while the cases reported in Mandera are from Mandera East with 8 and Mandera West 1.

In Tana River, 4 are from Galole, Bura 3 and Garsen 1. In Nyeri, 3 are from Nyeri Central, 2 from Mukurweni and 1 each from Kieni West and Tetu. In Taita Taveta, 5 are from Voi and 2 from Taveta while Bungoma’s cases are from Kandunyi and Kimilili. In Laikipia, all cases are from Laikipia East while in Nandi all the cases are from Emgwen. I Murang’a there is one each from Gatanga, Kandara, Kiharu and Maragua. In Trans Nzoia, 3 are from Cherengany and 1 from Kiminini with all cases in Nyandarua being from Ol Kalou. In Garissa, 2 are from Dadaab and 1 each from Fafi and Garissa Town. In Vihiga, 2 are from Vihiga and 1 from Luanda.

Kwale recorded 1 case each from Kinango and Msambweni while Homabay’s cases are from Homabay Town. All the cases in Makueni are from Kibwezi East with the cases in Embu recorded in Manyatta. In Nyamira, all cases are from Manga, the case in Tharaka Nithi recorded in Chuka, the case in Kitui recorded in Kitui Central and the case in Isiolo recorded in Isiolo Town.

They also announced that 791 people recovered from the disease, with 695 of them being from home-based care and 96 discharged from various hospitals. Total recoveries now stand at 44,872.  The ministry also announced that 25 people have succumbed to the disease, taking fatalities to 1,228
